Welcome to our blog, "Berries and Bites".
This space has been created to share our musings and information on emotional and physical and mental wellness as we journey on the path toward attaining our best and highest selves.
Let's begin with some words of wisdom from CallieBradford.
As women we often times feel as if we have to take on the entire world and say yes to any and everybody that asks us to do something. We do this even if we don't have the time nor the energy. We are nurturers by nature and want to take care of the everyone else's needs while we put our own needs, hopes, goals and aspirations on hold in order to take care of someone else.
Have you every been so worn out and tired that you felt like you couldn't go another second and all you wanted to do was rest? I know I have. The phone rings and someone needs you for a just a moment to vent about how badly their day went, and it ends up being an hour long conversation. Then, your boss emails and needs you to get in a report that second because you're the only one that can do it. Next, your significant other asks you "what's for dinner" and you stop to cook. Meanwhile your child needs you to help with homework. So, you put yourself and your own desires on the back burner for one day which turns into one month which turns into one year. Suddenly you look up and ten or twenty years has gone by and you have forgotten to take time for yourself. You neglected to accomplish what you wanted for yourself in life, like a building a better body, improving your health, starting a second career or to writing the novel you have always wanted to publish.
I'm here to tell you it's okay to schedule an appointment with yourself and for yourself!
I work with clients all the time who say that they can't accomplish their goals to lose weight or to start a new career because they don't have the time. If a better you is what you really want, you have to take time and schedule an appointment to do just that -no matter what it takes. For me, my gym time is for me and it makes me feel energetic, happy and empowered to take on the world. I schedule that time at 5:15 am daily while most people are asleep and cannot make any demands on my time. My time with myself and for myself is valuable and I am important enough to take 2 hours out of a 24-hour day to take care of me. I'd encourage you to do the same. If a better body is what you really desire and going to the gym or taking a spin class or yoga is the only way to get it, then find a time that works for you. That time may be 5 am or 5 pm, but schedule it and place that time on your calendar daily along with an alarm to remind yourself of your appointment for you and by you daily. YOU ARE WORTH IT!
